Barrister to contest Brough's Qld seat

LNP members have voted for barrister Andrew Wallace to replace former minister Mal Brough in his Sunshine Coast seat to contest the federal election.

The Liberal National Party has chosen a barrister to replace former minister Mal Brough to contest the Sunshine Coast seat of Fisher at the federal election.

Andrew Wallace's nod from the party comes after Mr Brough earlier this year said he would not recontest his seat, citing police investigations over the ongoing saga involving former Speaker Peter Slipper.

"I am very humbled and honoured to be selected by my fellow members as the LNP candidate for this magnificent part of Queensland," Mr Wallace said on Sunday after beating five other hopefuls.
