Adrian Ernest Bayley won't serve one extra day on top of his murder sentence, despite having more than $12,000 in unpaid fines converted into jail time.
Bayley, 41, of Coburg was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 35 years for the rape and murder of Melbourne woman Jill Meagher last September.
Magistrate Lance Martin converted the $12,559 in unpaid parking and speeding fines into 87 days jail on Tuesday at the request of Bayley.
But he will not have to serve any additional time, with Mr Martin ordering the days be served concurrently with his life sentence.
Bayley admitted raping and killing Ms Meagher in a laneway just 500 metres from her Brunswick home, before burying the 29-year-old ABC employee's body at Gisborne South, north of Melbourne.
Victorian Supreme Court Justice Geoffrey Nettle jailed Bayley for life for the murder plus 15 years for the rape in June.
In sentencing Bayley, Justice Nettle said the murder ranked among the worst committed in Victoria.
Bayley's lawyers last week lodged an appeal against the sentence.
