Baz Luhrmann and hip hop go together like two things that don't.
But - hear us out - the first look at his Netflix original series The Get Down has dropped online, causing people worldwide to dust off their boomboxes and squeeze into their flares.
Set in the late Seventies, the show follows a huge cast of characters in the South Bronx as hip-hop is born in the New York borough.
The highly antcipated show boasts all of Luhrmann's directorial trademarks: musical influences, visual opulence and colourful dance numbers.
But it also has something distinctly more: diversity.
The largely African American ensemble looks set to deliver some of the most buzz-worthy performances of this year, with many of the cast newcomers and relative unknowns.
Luhrmann has said he originally got the idea for the story a decade ago, unfortunately we got Australia first but that's neither here nor there.
Music legend Grandmaster Flash and music journalist Nelson George were consultants on the show, which is set to debut mid 2016.
