Cricket Australia has boosted the Big Bash League prizemoney by $600,000.

However, the directive is that none of it will go to players.

The additional $600,000 is to be split between the franchises that rank first to fourth.

In the previous four seasons, the players competed for all of the prize funds on offer.

The total pool is now $890,000, with the winning BBL franchise and its players to take home almost half a million.
