BBL Scorchers stripped of star quartet

Stand-in Perth Scorchers skipper Michael Klinger is confident he won't be over-burdened with responsibility as he attempts to plug the sizeable holes left by the team's departing stars.

The Scorchers will be without Test trio Shaun Marsh, Mitch Marsh and Adam Voges for most of their remaining BBL games, while all-rounder Nathan Coulter-Nile (shoulder) is almost certain to miss the rest of the campaign.

With the quartet all out of action for Saturday's BBL clash with the Brisbane Heat at the WACA Ground, the likes of Jason Behrendorff, Ashton Agar, Ashton Turner and Marcus Harris will earn recalls.

Behrendorff missed Monday's loss to Adelaide because of ongoing back soreness, while Agar, Turner, and Harris were all squeezed out of the star-studded line-up.

Klinger has been handed the captaincy duties in the absence of Voges, and the 35-year-old said he wasn't feeling the pressure to carry the team on his shoulders.

"What you don't want to do in T20 cricket is put too much pressure on yourself," Klinger said on Thursday.

"You've got to go out and play instinctively and play your natural game.

"You can't go out thinking I want to bat the 20 overs or 18 overs, because you're not going to score at a good enough rate.

"We'll have some young guys coming in who have played a fair bit for the Scorchers over the last couple of years.

"They're not just new guys coming in who may come off or may not. It's a good luxury for us to have."

The Heat are in desperate need of a win to keep within striking distance of the top four after opening their campaign with two straight defeats.

Perth are also keen to get their season back on track after starting their title defence with a four-wicket loss to the Strikers.
