Business Council of Australia president Grant King is joining the board of HSBC Australia as an independent non executive director.
Mr King, managing director of Origin Energy between 2000 and 2016 following its demerger from Boral, will join on April 1.
"Grant brings to the bank more than 40 years' of experience as an executive and director, with notable expertise in strategy and operations in the energy and infrastructure sectors," HSBC Australia chairman Graham Bradley said.
"He is extremely well regarded within the Australian business and political community and has been an active contributor to good public policy development."
Mr King took over presidency of the BCA from Catherine Livingstone in November 2016.
