Beef exports to come down, industry says

Australia could struggle to export more beef as expected with new trade deals as seasonal conditions continue to worsen.

Australian beef exporters may fail to reap the benefits of new trade deals with worsening climate conditions affecting stock.

Meat and Livestock Australia is forecasting export volumes will come down in the coming years, blaming drought.

Asked during a Senate estimates hearing on Tuesday if there would be limitations on achieving an expected increase in exports, managing director Richard Norton said "absolutely".
