Bees boot out Vic native animals

Honey bees that have taken up residence in marsupial homes in central Victoria will be re-hived in Castlemaine with the money raised from a crowdfunding page.

Bees have swarmed into the homes of marsupials in central Victoria, kicking them out and leading a local group to set up an emergency crowdfunding page to re-hive them.

The bees' new homes will be located in urban areas across Castlemaine where cross-pollination and honey will flow from the hives in responsibly managed settings.

Castlemaine Bee Sanctuary is hoping to raise $6000 to buy the new hives with any extra money going towards maintenance costs.
