Almost 25 million bees have escaped after a truck transporting the insects overturned on a US freeway.

Authorities closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 in Utah for several hours after the crash and called in beekeepers to help with the incident.

Utah Highway Patrol officer Todd Johnson said many of the insects dispersed, stinging the truck driver, passenger and at least two law enforcement officers.
