A stunning return from paceman Jason Behrendorff has put Western Australia in a commanding position after day one of their Sheffield Shield clash with Victoria at the WACA Ground.
Behrendorff, playing his first first-class match after suffering a broken leg in November, took 9-37 from 13.2 overs on Saturday, the best figures in the competition in half a century.
In reply, WA were 4-178 at stumps with Jon Wells not out on 70 and Ashton Turner 10.
The Warriors lead by 61 hunting a fourth successive win to enhance their chances of playing in the final. Even with a loss, the Bushrangers will remain on top.
Behrendorff started off dismissing Marcus Harris in the first over on his way to three scalps in his opening spell.
He then picked up two more just before lunch, including top-scorer Dan Christian for 39.
He finished the job with four quickly after the interval to claim 9-37.
The figures are the second best for WA, behind Ian Brayshaw's 10-44 against Victoria in 1967/68, and fifth best in the history of the Sheffield Shield.
Behrendorff's performance came after Victorian captain Cameron White won the toss and decided to bat.
That soon became a decision he would regret with the Bushrangers crumbling to 5-58, and losing 4-15 after lunch to be all out for 117.
WA lost opener Cameron Bancroft for 14 relatively early in their response and Hilton Cartwright for 23, but they were making steady progress at 2-67.
Captain Adam Voges made just two, but Michael Klinger added 43 in an 82-run stand with Wells, before being dismissed.
Chris Tremain has two wickets for Victoria with James Pattinson and Scott Boland taking one each.
Behrendorff was blown away afterwards when made aware it was the best Shield bowling figures in 50 years.
"When the boys told me it was the best figures in 50 years and the second best from a West Australian, you don't come out to do that in cricket," Behrendorff said.
"I was just happy to come back and be playing again and if I could take a few wickets I would have been stoked. To take nine was something else."
