Mat Belcher has become Australia's most successful Olympic-class skipper, winning his seventh world sailing title.
Dual Olympic medallist Belcher teamed up with Will Ryan to clinch the world 470 crown off Thessaloniki, Greece at the weekend.
It moves Belcher past Tornado catamaran skipper Darren Bundock on the all-time list for Australia.
London Olympic gold medallist Belcher won three world titles with Malcolm Page and now has four with Ryan, his crew member at the Rio Olympics where they took silver.
The 24-year-old Belcher had won every championship from 2010 to 2015 but stumbled to a third placing last year on a weed-infested Argentinian course.
Going into Saturday's medal race, Belcher and Ryan were a point behind the Swedish Olympian Anton Dahlberg and Frederic Bergstrom, who had sailed strongly for the first part of the regatta but faded from race eight onwards.
"It's pretty exciting to win another world championship with Will," he said.
"The Swedish guys started this event very strongly and should be very proud of their achievement."
