Bellamy's boosts production with Fonterra

NZ dairy giant Fonterra will use its factory in southeast Victoria to make baby nutritional powders for organic formula maker Bellamy's.

Infant formula maker Bellamy's has signed a deal with New Zealand dairy giant Fonterra to produce a range of new baby nutritional powders.

Fonterra's Australian infant formula factory at Darnum, in southeast Victoria, will make the powders for Bellamy's over five years from mid-2016.

"We have been working throughout this year to seamlessly add capacity so that we can meet the growing demand for our certified organic formulas from Australian parents and our export markets," Bellamy's chief executive Laura McBain said in a statement on Monday.

"This arrangement means that significant additional capacity would be available to Bellamy's, adding to its current capabilities."
