Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira has been banned for two months by the disciplinary commission of the Portuguese football federation.

Vieira was seen vehemently arguing with referee Jorge Tavares after league rivals Belenenses equalised in a 1-1 draw with the Portuguese league leaders on September 28.

Vieira, who was punished for sullying the reputation and honour of Tavares, was also fined 1,530 euros ($A2,170).
