Fremantle have secured the services of controversial midfielder Harley Bennell in an AFL trade deal involving a swap of draft picks with Gold Coast.

Fremantle sent draft picks 16 and 35 to the Suns in exchange for Bennell and pick 22.

The gifted 23-year-old ran out of chances at Gold Coast after a string of off-field incidents.
