Hoodoo? What hoodoo?

Wayne Bennett has refused to accept Melbourne have the wood on Brisbane despite the Storm extending their remarkable eight year Suncorp Stadium unbeaten run with a 42-12 NRL win on Friday night.

Melbourne ran in eight tries to two to notch their 11th win in 12 games against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium - and their seventh straight.

Brisbane haven't beaten the Storm on their home turf since 2009.

Overall Melbourne extended their head to head record against the Broncos to 28-13 - Brisbane's worst record against any current NRL team.

But Bennett said the solution to their troubles against Melbourne was simple.

"I don't feel like it is hoodoo on the club," he said.

"We just have to play better.

"We have to man up a bit more to the responsibility that goes with that.

"It's not complex."

The Broncos had an ideal chance to edge closer to ladder leaders Melbourne with an eighth straight home win but now may drop out of the top four altogether.

"They were too good for us. They outplayed us," Bennett said.

"It was our ball control. The first four tries came off silly errors in crucial field position.

"They dropped their lips when they realised how stupid a mistake it was - it was unnecessary."

Melbourne's Friday night romp echoed their record 48-6 victory over Brisbane in the corresponding match last year.

It also snapped Brisbane's seven-game winning run at home.

Vying for a Queensland bench spot, Brisbane halfback Ben Hunt failed to shine with coach Kevin Walters watching before naming his team on Monday.

Bennett refused to point the finger after the sobering loss.

"I am not sure why you'd want to single Ben out - we had a whole team out there," he said.

"I don't think there is one player who came off not thinking they could have played better - Ben is in that category.

"But he wasn't the reason we played like that - it's a shared responsibility by all of us."

The signs were ominous when Brisbane lost winger Corey Oates (virus) before kick-off and Josh McGuire (concussion) in the seventh minute.

They were added to an injury list that includes playmaker Anthony Milford (shoulder) and skipper Darius Boyd (thumb) who could both be back in a fortnight.
