Berlocq progresses at ATP Argentina Open

Wildcard Carlos Berlocq and Alexandr Dolgopolov recorded straight sets win in their first round matches at the clay-court Argentina Open .

Home-crowd favourite Carlos Berlocq has defeated qualifier Jozef Kovalik of Slovakia in straight sets to reach the second round of the Argentina Open.

The Argentine veteran scored a comfortable 6-4 6-4 victory to set up a meeting with No.3 seed David Ferrer.

In another first-round match, Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine beat Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia 6-3 6-3 and will meet No.2 seed Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay next..

The four top-seeded players all had byes into the second round with Kei Nishikori of Japan the No.1 seed with Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain No.4.

The Argentina Open is the second stop on the Latin American clay-court swing ahead of next week's tournament in Rio de Janeiro, where Nishikori is also seeded No. 1.
