Bestiality and torture accused denied bail

Two men will spend Christmas in prison after they were denied bail in Lismore Court, charged with bestiality and torture against a pig and chickens.

Two men charged with bestiality and torture in relation to a pig and several chickens on the NSW north coast will spend Christmas behind bars.

Bradley Presbury, 20, and Reece Parke, 22, were arrested on Thursday after 10 dead chickens with broken bones were found on a Nimbin farm along with a seriously injured pig.

Police will allege the pair raped and tortured the 12-year-old pig, called Polly, and injured and killed the chickens sometime before the animals were found on December 14 by workers at the commercial permaculture farm.

Several tools were also missing.

The pair was refused bail in Lismore Court on Friday and will remain behind bars until their next appearance.

The Lismore Echo reported both men were on parole at the time they were charged, and that Presbury's lawyer tried and failed to seek a non-publication order on the men's names, as publicity of the charges could bring the men to harm in prison.

Presbury and Parke face Lismore Court again on January 17, charged with one count each of bestiality, two counts of torture, and beating and causing the death of an animal.
