Ashes squad members Callum Ferguson and Usman Khawaja will have major opportunities to press their claims for Test selection in the four-day game between Australia A and England starting on Wednesday in Hobart.
South Australia's Ferguson, who has returned from a major knee injury, and Pakistan-born NSW star Khawaja were named on Monday in Australia's 17-man squad for the first Ashes Test in Brisbane starting on November 25.
The uncapped duo are seen as back-up players to middle-order batsmen Marcus North and Mike Hussey, but Australia A captain Cameron White says opportunities to wear the baggy green might not be far away.
"We'll be trying to win but it's no secret that it's a great opportunity for the individuals in the game, especially from a batting and bowling point of view," White said.
"If you do well as an individual you're going to give yourself every opportunity to play in the Tests.

"A game like this is about doing well as an individual and from my point of view as captain of the Australia A team I hope we can win as well.
"It will put England under a bit more pressure if we do win.
"I'm only guessing but obviously they (uncapped duo Khawaja and Ferguson) are in the 17-man squad so they've got to be close.
"I would assume if they do well it's not going to hurt their cause going forward to the first few Test matches. It's a great opportunity for everyone involved."
White said one-Test bowlers Clint McKay and Peter George and the uncapped Mark Cameron were not out of the running for Test spots this summer despite being left out of the 17-man squad for the first Test starting in Brisbane on November 25.
"You'd be surprised if there wasn't one or two injuries across the five Tests, especially with bowlers," White said.
England have excused pacemen Stuart Broad, Steven Finn and James Anderson and spinner Graeme Swan from this week's game and they will travel to Brisbane later this week to soak up some Queensland sun ahead of the first Test.
"We've come to win the Ashes, it's as simple as that and everything we do is geared towards that," England batting coach Graham Gooch said.
White said it was a smart decision by England to give their frontline bowlers an early look at Brisbane conditions.
The match between Australia A and England is due to start at 10.30am on Wednesday at Bellerive Oval.
