Melbourne fans will get another glimpse of their team's future on Saturday when key forward Sam Weideman makes his AFL debut against Hawthorn at the MCG.

Weideman, the grandson of Collingwood great Murray Weideman, was the ninth overall pick at last year's national draft.

Coach Paul Roos said on Thursday Weideman was every chance to line up alongside star forward Jesse Hogan, who is making strong progress from a knee injury suffered last week.
