Big wet forces Qld closures, cancellations

Hundreds of schools, businesses, attractions and events have been closed or cancelled due to southeast Queensland's big wet.

WHAT'S BEEN CLOSED OR CANCELLED BY SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND'S HEAVY RAINFALL:

* 763 state schools, 1286 Catholic and private schools and 546 child care centres are now closed.

* Beaches along 600km of coastline between Agnes Water and the NSW border have been closed.

* The Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships on the Gold Coast has been suspended until further notice.

* Gold Coast theme parks Dreamworld, Movie World, Wet'N'Wild and Sea World all closed for the day.

* Griffith University campuses and Queensland University of Technology campuses to close from noon. University of Queensland campuses across the southeast have been closed for the day. Bond University and University of Sunshine Coast campuses are also closed.

* TAFE Queensland have closed all southeast Queensland campuses and some rural campuses.

* Queensland Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art closed.

* All criminal matters adjourned at Brisbane's Supreme and District Courts. Civil matters proceeding as they can on a case-by-case basis.

* Elective surgery at the Gold Coast University Hospital, Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital, Redcliffe Hospital, Caboolture Hospital and Kilcoy Hospital has been cancelled.

* More than 200 roads across Queensland are closed.

* All southeast public transport services are experiencing delays, with some inbound trains suspended. CityCat services running a reduced schedule.

* All AFL Queensland senior matches across the south east have been abandoned. Junior matches for Brisbane on Friday, Saturday and Sunday are cancelled.

* Coles supermarkets at Lutwyche, Gladstone, Brisbane CBD, Mermaid Waters, Robina, Arana Hills, Jimboomba and Kenmore all closed.
