Biggest nuclear fusion reactor in France

Scientists are attempting to re-create the sun's energy inside a purpose-built fusion reactor in the south of France.

The world's most ambitious attempt to harness 'fusion' as a source of power is taking shape in France.

Scientists want to recreate what the sun does and force atoms together to release energy.

The experiment is taking place in the south of France to the tune of A$22 billion.

It is being backed by Europe, America, China, India, Russia, Japan and South Korea.
