Bird in great shape for Broncos return

Brisbane coach Anthony Seibold says Jack Bird is ready to put a horror start to his Broncos career behind him.

After an injury-plagued start to his Brisbane career, Jack Bird is in "terrific shape" for his return to action for the Broncos.

Bird will line up in the centres for the Broncos in the NRL club's trial against Wynnum-Manly on Saturday.

It will be Bird's first run in a Broncos jersey since round 10 last year after the ex-Cronulla star endured a horror first season at Red Hill.

The 23-year-old has recovered from shoulder and sternum injuries to return to full fitness and coach Anthony Seibold is impressed by what he's seen.

"It's a great opportunity for Jack to get back on the field after only playing a limited number of games last season," Seibold said.

"He's in terrific shape. He's feeling really good and done every minute of every training session so far since November which has got him into the physical shape he's in.

"He's left no stone unturned. Walked in here the lightest he's been for three years this morning (Friday)."

Bird and fellow first-grade regular Alex Glenn are only expected to play the first 20 minutes of Saturday's trial against the Queensland Cup team.

Seibold is then hopeful the NSW State of Origin representative can see more game time in a trial against Gold Coast the following week.

"It's just about getting some confidence," Seibold said.

"Playing 20 minutes gets him that opportunity and then we'll roll him out for a few more minutes all going well against the Titans."
