Foreign Minister Julie Bishop concedes Tony Abbott would have concerns about what went on during his last six months as prime minister, but she wasn't aware of "white-anting".

Mr Abbott has blamed "well organised white-anting" from within his government as a reason it was brought down.

"I certainly was not aware of white-anting, although I'm sure that the former prime minister has a number of concerns about what went on in those last six months of his time as prime minister," Ms Bishop told the Nine Network on Tuesday.

Ms Bishop revealed she did tell Mr Abbott about a conversation Malcolm Turnbull had with Scott Morrison the day before the February spill.

"Of course," she said.

But she insisted everyone was talking to each other - Mr Turnbull and Mr Abbott, Mr Abbott and Mr Morrison - because the push for change had come from the backbench.

"It wasn't driven by the cabinet and so a number of colleagues were, of course, speaking constantly about the matter over that weekend."

Ms Bishop said she didn't think Mr Abbott was having trouble moving on from being deposed, acknowledging it would take time to come to terms with what happened in his last six months.
