Deputy Liberal leader Julie Bishop is steering well clear of speculation about an early federal election, saying only that she anticipates the government will run its full term.

Ms Bishop dismissed a suggestion Malcolm Turnbull could call a March 19 election on Valentine's Day - the date opposition frontbencher Anthony Albanese is tipping.

"Prime Minister Turnbull has said he expects the government to run its full term and so I have no suggestions otherwise," she told the Nine Network on Monday.
