Julie Bishop says she's honoured to have been re-elected unopposed as deputy leader of the Liberal Party.

Opposition finance spokesman Andrew Robb briefly considered running against her but was warned off by colleagues who pronounced "disunity is death".

"I am honoured to be re-elected unopposed as deputy leader of the Liberal Party and deputy leader of the opposition," Ms Bishop said in a statement following the Liberals' partyroom meeting in Canberra.

"I thank my colleagues for their support and I will continue to work tirelessly to support them."

The partyroom also re-elected Tony Abbott as leader on Thursday after he took the coalition to within a hair's breadth of victory.
