Australia is giving Tonga an initial $50,000 in emergency supplies in the wake of the destructive Cyclone Ian.
Foreign Minister Julie Bishop says Australia's thoughts are with those who have had their homes and livelihoods devastated by the disaster.
Ian hit the Pacific island nation at the weekend, resulting in one confirmed death and extensive damage to housing, crops and public buildings.
Australian relief supplies will include blankets, water containers, tarpaulins, kitchen sets and hygiene kits.
Ms Bishop says the Australian High Commission in the capital Nuku'alofa is still contacting Australians in affected areas to confirm their safety.
She says anyone concerned about the welfare of Australian family and friends in Tonga should first attempt to contact them directly.
If contact cannot be made, people should call the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's 24-hour Consular Emergency Centre on +61 2 6261 3305 from overseas, or 1300 555 135 within Australia.
