Bishop stands by Turnbull after poll loss

Deputy Liberal leader Julie Bishop says she has great confidence Malcolm Turnbull will lead the government to the next election, despite losing 30 Newspolls.

Julie Bishop is standing firm behind Malcolm Turnbull despite her leader losing his 30th consecutive Newspoll.

The deputy Liberal leader said she didn't envisage "at all" circumstances where she could be tapped on the shoulder to challenge the prime minister.

"I have great confidence that Malcolm Turnbull will lead us to the next election and the Australian people will support us in continuing to deliver our economic plan," she told the Seven Network on Monday.
