Australia is determined to push ahead with free trade talks with the UK despite the shock resignation of Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.
Mr Johnson plunged Theresa May's government into crisis overnight after he announced he was quitting, with a scathing assessment of her Brexit plans.
Ms Bishop refused to speculate on what sort of a prime minister Mr Johnson would be if he challenged for the leadership, but said the UK government was facing significant challenges over Brexit.
"What Australia wants to see is stability and certainty and we want to continue working with the UK government on matters of concern to us," Ms Bishop told reporters in Canberra on Tuesday.
"That includes a free trade agreement when the time is appropriate."
She said she she'll miss Mr Johnson, noting their achievements working together in recent years.
Ms Bishop is keen to continue Australia and the UK's strong relationship under replacement Jeremy Hunt, but the future of the annual ministerial meeting between the two countries is uncertain.
"We are yet to work out whether AUKMIN will proceed in its current format," Ms Bishop said.
Mr Johnson's dramatic departure came less than 24 hours after Brexit Secretary David Davis quit.
