A trail of blood from a wounded man has led police to the Gold Coast home where he was allegedly stabbed and potentially uncovered a drug lab.

The 38-year-old had apparently stumbled from the Palm Beach house to a nearby bus stop, where he was seen by a passer-by who called police.

He was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds, while police officers followed the trail back to a house where they found two men.

They also found chemicals suspected to be part of a drug lab at the home, police told AAP.

The two men have been released from custody, pending further investigation.
