Jenny Foster lost her home near Springwood to fires on Thursday and had been staying with a friend while her husband talked to insurance assessors.
She had been heading back to the friend's place on Monday after running errands when she learned a new emergency warning had been issued.
"Now we've been evacuated from there," the local teacher told AAP.
Ms Foster and her husband will now spend the night at the evacuation centre at Springwood Sports Club.
Her friend's home is surrounded by bush, but Ms Foster hopes it will survive the fires better than her own home did.

"Hopefully now this won't be like Thursday because they've got so many firefighters and people up here to help out," she said outside the sports club.
Mr Foster has fought several bushfires on her property, but said she had never seen anything like the fires on Thursday.
"The wind was swirling and the fire was coming from every which way," she said.
"We have all the firefighting equipment, generator, pump, water tanks, and there's just no way that any of that was of use against the flames."
The stoic 65-year-old said it "would take a bit" to convince her to rebuild her home.
But, she added, "we're OK, we've just lost a house."
Ms Foster also praised the volunteers at the evacuation centre and the firefighters who are risking their lives to save homes.
"Everybody here has just been so helpful and fantastic," she said.
Fire authorities issued an emergency warning for Springwood after a bushfire flared up between Chapman Road and Grose Road.
