Blues AFL recruit has surgery

Lachie Plowman will need at least two months before he can resume full training after needing hip surgery.

Carlton recruit Lachie Plowman has suffered an injury setback, with the defender sidelined for up to 10 weeks of the AFL pre-season.

The Blues announced on Thursday that Plowman needed hip surgery because of discomfort that had persisted since he returned to training last month.

They added he will resume light training in a fortnight and return to full work in eight to 10 weeks.

Plowman was part of the trade that brought three other Giants to Carlton.

He has played 20 senior games.
