The navy has intercepted another boat carrying suspected asylum seekers.
The patrol boat HMAS Wollongong, operating under the control of Border Protection Command, intercepted a suspected irregular entry vessel north east of Christmas Island.
"Initial indications suggest there are 57 passengers and two crew on board," Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor said in a statement.

The group will be transferred to Christmas Island for security, identity and health checks and their reasons for travel will be established, he said.
