The federal government's failed Malaysian asylum seeker deal is yet another policy failure in a string of bungles, opposition immigration spokesman Scott Morrison says.
The High Court has ordered Immigration Minister Chris Bowen and his department be restrained from sending asylum seekers to Malaysia despite their deal to send 800 asylum seekers there in exchange for 4000 already processed refugees.
"Policy failure is never anything you would welcome but what we have seen today in the High Court is yet another recognition of yet another policy failure by this incompetent government," Mr Morrison told reporters in Adelaide.
"This is a government whose failed non-solution for East Timor has now been followed up by their Malaysia non-solution, prior to that was their failed asylum freeze."
He said Mr Bowen's Malaysia deal failure was a bungle that went "together with everything from pink bats, and school hall rip offs and the NBN and border protection failures, a government that simply can't get anything right."
