Jack Bobridge has won his second elite road race title at the Australian road cycling championships with a gutsy ride.

The 2011 winner went clear by himself around halfway through the 183km race on the hilly Buninyong circuit near Ballarat.

Bobridge was in agony in the last few kilometres, but hung on to beat Cam Meyer by nearly three minutes, with domestic rider Pat Lane a surprise bronze medallist at another minute back.
