The body of a man has been discovered at the same property where police arrested fugitives Gino and Mark Stocco in NSW's central west.
Police have confirmed the body is consistent with a 68-year-old man, believed to be the property's caretaker, who has been missing since October 8.
Police say the cause of his death is unknown.
Speaking to the media in Dubbo, Acting Assistant Commissioner Clinton Pheeney said the Stoccos had resisted arrest, contrary to media reports the men had surrendered to police.
Heavily armed officers stormed the farm at Elong Elong, near Dubbo, just before midday on Wednesday and arrested the father and son, who had been on the run for eight years.
"They were arrested following the property being surrounded by police," he said.
"There was some resistance to the arrest and as a result there were some minor injuries to Gino and Mark Stocco that are still being assessed in Dubbo Hospital."
Acting Assistant Commissioner Pheeney said police had narrowed in on the property following a tip from a resident in Sydney and reports of a suspicious vehicle in a forest near Dunedoo.
He confirmed a "considerable number of police" including tactical operations officers had been involved in the arrest.
"We considered them to be armed and dangerous," Acting Assistant Commissioner Pheeney said.
"No firearms have yet been located, nor any ammunition, but the search continues. It is a large property and will take some time to be properly searched."
He said detectives in Wagga Wagga, where the men allegedly shot at police cars nearly two weeks ago, were searching areas believed to be connected to the men.
A crime scene has been established and specialist forensic officers have been combing the 385-hectare property, which is called Pinevale, near Dunedoo, about 50km east of Dubbo.
Strike Force Heather has been formed to investigate the man's death.
