A body has been found by police after a house fire in the NSW Hunter Valley.

A person has been killed in a house fire in the NSW Hunter Valley.

Police found the body in the home on Arthur Street in Mayfield after the blaze was extinguished on Thursday evening.

They have established a crime scene and are investigating.
