Body found in helicopter at crash site

A body has been found in the cockpit of a helicopter which crashed west of Port Douglas in far north Queensland on Friday.

Police have called off a search for a passenger on a helicopter which crashed in far north Queensland after a body was located in the cockpit.

The body was discovered on Saturday morning at the crash site, about 50 kilometres west of Port Douglas.

The helicopter went down on Friday afternoon. The 43-year-old pilot remains in a serious condition in Cairns Base Hospital.
