The body of a man, believed to be a missing fisherman, has been found at a Queensland dam.

The man's empty boat was seen adrift in the middle of Somerset Dam northwest of Brisbane on Sunday evening, sparking a State Emergency Services air and water search.

The search resumed at first light on Monday, with SES crews reportedly finding an oar and fishing rod holder before finding his body at around midday.

"A body has been located ... believed to be that of the missing fisherman in the vicinity of the search area at about 12 o'clock or so," SES controller Andy Bickerton told ABC radio.

The man, aged in his 60s, was reportedly fishing alone when he went missing.
