Body washes up at NSW beach

A body that washed up on a northern NSW beach is believed to be that of a fisherman and is not being treated as suspicious, police say.

The body of a man has washed up on a beach on the NSW north coast.

The body was spotted at Turner's Beach at Yamba, a small fishing town at the mouth of the Clarence River, at about 7am (AEDT) on Friday.

The man is believed to have been aged in his 60s.

Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.

It's believed the man had been fishing in the area.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
