Black Jack has caused a sailing boilover, beating rival supermaxis Wild Oats XI and Comanche in a thrilling finish to the Sydney to Gold Coast yacht race.

A strong light winds performer, the Queensland boat capitalised in a drop in breeze over the last few hours of the race to cross the finish line just over two minutes ahead of Wild Oats XI on Monday morning.

Comanche, the 2017 Sydney to Hobart line honours winner, which led for much of the race, was third across the line almost 23 minutes behind Black Jack.
