Bollinger scotches retirement talk

Veteran quick Doug Bollinger says he has no plans to retire and will continue running around for NSW as long as his body holds up.

After putting NSW in a match-winning position in their Sheffield Shield clash against Queensland, veteran Doug Bollinger has revealed he has no plans to retire.

The former Test paceman proved there was still life left in the 34-year-old workhorse with an outstanding display which has the Blues in touching distance of victory at the SCG.

The Blues will resume Monday's final day at 2-42 in pursuit of 102 and are expected to stroll to victory after Bollinger and O'Keefe tore through the Bulls middle and lower order on day three.

Following on from his first-innings haul of 2-40, Bollinger took 3-23. He was superbly consistent, notching six maidens, including four in a row at one point, from his 13 overs.

It follows on from a stellar performance in the Blues' 223-run loss to Tasmania at Bankstown Oval last week in which he finished with match figures of 7-141.

He carried the drinks for NSW during this year's one-day cup and he had no opportunities in the opening two rounds of the Shield - squeezed out of the Blues XI against South Australia due to the availability of NSW's Test stars and the side's next game against Victoria was abandoned.

However, he has taken 12 wickets in their last two outings and will turn out for the Sydney Sixers in this year's Big Bash League.

Asked about his future, Bollinger said he would go around as long as his body his body would allow him.

"I'm bowling alright for an old bloke," Bollinger said.

"I'm just enjoying it and really enjoying being around the guys, the ball's coming out well so that's a good quinella.

Asked about his future beyond 2015-16, he said: "I don't know mate. Ask me in March. I'm just taking it as it comes. I'm still keeping up with the young guys and I'm still enjoying it."
