Essendon ruckman Matthew Leuenberger will miss the Bombers' clash with Hawthorn after he accepted an AFL ban for striking.

The AFL Tribunal will not sit on Tuesday night after Leuenberger and Brisbane's Nick Robertson accepted one-match bans and 14 other players accepted fines.

Leuenberger was charged with striking Melbourne's Max Gawn and Robertson with striking Greater Western Sydney's Harry Himmelberg.

Leuenberger played his first game of the season in the disappointing loss to the Demons and will miss Saturday's game against the Hawks at the MCG.

Robertson will miss the winless Lions' game against Collingwood at the Gabba on Sunday.

Five of the 14 players fined a total of $19,000 were sanctioned for making contact with an umpire.

As expected, AFL match review officer Michael Christian threw out the match-day report against Geelong's Jordan Murdoch for rough conduct on Sydney's Isaac Heeney.

"After viewing all available footage and speaking to the umpire who laid the report, it was the view of the match review officer that Murdoch was contesting the ball and had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball," a statement on the AFL's match review findings read.
