Geelong are unsure how long utility Mark Blicavs will be out of AFL action after he suffered a cracked leg bone in Friday's loss to Adelaide.
Blicavs saw a specialist on Monday and the Cats will decide on Tuesday whether their 2015 best and fairest winner needs surgery.
Apart from the fracture to the tibia bone in his right leg, scans have shown Blicavs also has syndesmosis damage to the ankle.
The Cats hope he will return for the finals.
"That type of ankle injury can last anywhere between two weeks to six weeks, it just depends on how individuals respond to that type of injury," Cats football manager Steve Hocking told the AFL website.
"The fracture is about whether there needs to be any surgery.
"It's looking unlikely, but it's something the doctors need to work through and make a decision on once they have the information available."
