Boone to finish NBL season with Melbourne

Melbourne United have announced that 2.08m centre Josh Boone will play on with the club for the rest of the NBL season as they eye a top-four finish.

Former NBA centre Josh Boone will stay with Melbourne United for the remainder of the season as they make a late bid to chase down a spot in the NBL finals.

Although second-last with four games remaining, United still have a chance to finish in the top-four given the congested nature of the table.

With a must-win clash against the Sydney Kings looming on Saturday, Melbourne announced on Tuesday that 32-year-old Boone would stick with the club after joining in December as an injury replacement for Devin Williams.

"He brings not only a huge inside presence for us on the court, but his maturity and experience on and off the court have been a welcomed addition heading into the tail end of the season," United chief executive Vince Crivelli said.

Williams, who was sidelined for five weeks with a knee injury, has been released from his contract to seek opportunities in the United States.
