Boost in Tasmanian nurse numbers

The Tasmanian government has used International Nurses Day to announce an increase in the number of nurses employed by the state.

Tasmania's Liberal government is championing its commitment to health care, citing an increase in nurse numbers on International Nurses Day.

In the nine months to March, the Tasmania Health Service has employed an extra 80 nurses, taking the total number to almost 4600, Health Minister Michael Ferguson said on Thursday.

"We are continuing to reinvest in essential services such as health," the minister said.
