Immigration Minister Chris Bowen is hopeful that South Australians opposed to an immigration detention facility will be more agreeable once all issues have been worked
through.
Mr Bowen attended a meeting of Adelaide Hills residents on Wednesday night, declaring it productive.
He said there were strong views expressed in favour of the centre and strong views against the centre while some people just wanted information.
"I thought it was important that I go and answer those questions and deal with those concerns," he told reporters.

"Of course we are finding, as I have said many times, that whenever a government proposes a centre like this you will find concerns and issues to be worked through.
"But as those issues are worked through and those concerns are dealt with, the community responds well."
The government is planning to house family groups of asylum seekers in defence accommodation at Inverbrackie, a move largely opposed by the small nearby community of Woodside.
Mr Bowen said some at the meeting raised concerns about education and health services and he was able to provide information.
"So where there is legitimate and valid concern raised, we are able to work them through," he said.
