Bowlers Stanlake, Worrall in Shield return

Billy Stanlake and Daniel Worrall have both been named for Sheffield Shield returns for Queensland and South Australia respectively this Sunday.

Billy Stanlake is set to play his first red-ball game for Queensland since 2015.

The towering fast bowler has replaced leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson in the Bulls 12-man squad to play NSW from Sunday at the Gabba.

It will be just the third Sheffield Shield appearance for the 24-year-old, who has played 17 Twenty20 and seven 50-over games for Australia.

Constant injuries have kept his red-ball career on hold but Stanlake has always maintained a desire to unleash his 150km/h thunderbolts in the Test arena.

Ironically he now has a chance to impress in the longer format after being omitted from Australia's one-day and T20 tour of India.

He got through 14 overs in a Futures League clash with Victoria this week, taking 2-53.

"Bill is keen to showcase his red ball skills and returning to first class cricket has been one of his goals this season," Bulls selector Justin Sternes said.

Meanwhile, Ashes tour contender Daniel Worrall will also return to Shield action this weekend for South Australia after recovering from a lower back injury.

The swing bowler will replace Chadd Sayers (hamstring) in the squad to play Western Australia, who Worrall took 10 wickets against in November.
