Boxer Billy Dib's road to redemption and revenge

Heartbreak and a financial fallout with rapper 50 Cent inspire Billy Dib toward another boxing world title.

At 31 years of age, Billy Dib is aiming to become a boxing world champion for a third time.

His career stalled in 2015 when he lost his 21-year-old wife, Sara Selim, to leukemia.

He's since remarried, but told SBS Sara's memory lives on.

"I want to become world champion because that's what she would have wanted," Dib said.

When he takes on Tanzania's Emilio Norfat next month, he knows victory will leave him just one fight away from a possible third world title.

"It's not if, it's when. I believe I can get back up there," Dib said.
And it won't just be Billy Dib making headlines - his younger brother Youssef has fought on the last two undercards, and just like his older brother, he's been successful.

Dib says Youssef has what it takes.

"I believe with the right guidance and time, he can become world champion himself," he said.

Underneath all his success, his devotion to Islam is paramount.

"It's kept me on the straight and narrow," he said. "The faith of Islam is something that gives me strength."

Dib had a high profile slanging match with American rapper 50 Cent when the boxing promotions company the pair were involved in collapsed last year. Dib claims he was owed over a million dollars.

"He did the wrong thing by me. But once I become world champion it'll be like, 'I told you so'," he said.

He's moved on from 50 Cent taunting him on Instagram. What he wants now is to let his fists do the talking.
