Boxer Darchinyan returns home

Australian boxer Vic Darchinyan has returned home following his loss to Filipino star Nonito Donaire in the United States.

Australian boxer Vic Darchinyan has arrived home following his non-title bout loss to Filipino star Nonito Donaire at the weekend in Texas.

Darchinyan was leading on two of the three judges' scorecards when the featherweight fight was stopped in the ninth round by referee Laurence Cole with the Aussie struggling after being floored by a left hook.

The fight was a grudge match after his 2007 fifth-round knockout loss to Donaire that was Darchinyan's first career defeat.

The loss dropped Darchinyan's record to 39-6-1.

His arrival at Sydney Airport coincided with the return to Australia of American boxing great Shane Mosley for his postponed bout with Anthony Mundine.
