A house fire that killed a four-year-old boy in Melbourne has been deemed non-suspicious.

Emergency services were called to the Ann Street home shortly before 8am on Saturday.

The boy's body was found by firefighters in an upstairs room of a Dandenong townhouse.

Another young child and other occupants of the townhouse were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

One firefighter was also hospitalised for an ankle injury after the floor in the top storey of the home gave way.

The house was extensively damaged in the fire.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the cause of the fire was not suspicious and a report would be prepared for the coroner.
